Learning How to Meditate for Beginners – 2 Minute Breathing Meditation

This video – Learning How to Meditate For Beginners – 2 Minute Breathing Meditation, is a great place to start if you have never meditated before. Being healthy on the inside is a great thing to do in your life. Eating lots of good healthy food, getting loads of turmeric and exercising is great but if your mind is negative and your thoughts are all over the place you are going to struggle to find balance in your life.

Meditation is the only portal I know to inner peace. It is the only way to slow your mind and let the stress and tension of the day dissolve. But how do we meditate? How do we get to that place of peace and change when our monkey mind is thinking about tomorrow, next week, last week, last year and next year? And yesterday? Learning how to meditate for beginners is a must.

Breathing is the life blood, if you like, of life. If we stop breathing we die. So it’s pretty important. And isn’t breathing a funny thing? We are breathing in this invisible air that we can’t see, can’t touch, can’t hold in our hand and can’t get rid of it from our life. It’s crazy and fascinating and scary. The thing that gives us life we can’t even see!

Meditation is my spiritual practice and life saver

So with that in mind imagine closing your eyes now and focusing on just your breath. This invisible life long friend. Just breathe and feel that invisible energy going in through your nose and filling up your body with life. Imagine with each in breath you are filling up with peace. Then breathing out any tension or anxiety you may be feeling. You do that for 2 minutes and your mind slows down. It has to. When we are focusing on our breath we stop focussing on our problems and issues of the day. We let our breath relax us and fill us with peace. We slow down.

Give it a try now. Watch the above video and just spend that 2 minutes focusing on your breath. This is the start of your new life, if you allow it to be.

Meditation needs to become a lifestyle habit. Doing it once a week or even 3 times a week will not change you. Change comes from commitment every day. Determination every day. Learning how to meditate for beginners is where you can start to find inner peace.

Learning how to meditate for beginners
Find a sacred place to meditate.

Discipline every day. Imagine committing to doing meditation once a day, first thing in the morning. Every day. No excuse.

And set yourself up for success. Make a sacred space in your home or outside in the garden. A place that you set up with maybe candles, a nice cushion, some essential oils, sacred photos or ornaments. Then you know whenever you go into that place you know that this ‘is my sacred place’. Visualise every night before you go to sleep seeing yourself in the morning meditating.

  1. Hi,
That was amazing, the sound and voice are so soothing. As soon as your video began the slow music made me reach out for the room light and switch it off. That was literally amazing I felt the tension leaving my body as I breathe out and I felt sleepy also after doing it but it’s definitely a relief thank you for your video.

  4. Hi, Kevin!
    Great article and meditation.
I try to meditate every day in the morning or evening. It helps me a lot. I think that meditation helped me to change my mindset and calmed my anxiety. Meditation helped me to get rid of rash that was because of my anxiety and stress. I am sure it healed me.
I have my own way to meditate and it makes me feel great and peaceful.
When did you start to meditate?
    Thank you for your article!

    • Hi Linda,

Thanks for your comments. I started meditating around 20 years ago on and off. Over the past 10 years I started to get more consistent and now its usually twice daily but absolute minimum is once a day. I love it and I know it helps me with stress, worry, focus and lots of other things. I swear by it. Glad you are out there doing it!

    • Hi Rebecca,

Thanks so much for your nice comments. Breathing is life really. If we are not breathing we are in real trouble. Haha! But yes so important for healing. Yes if we feel stressed and can affect all parts of our life.

      Cheers, Kev

  8. Wow Kev, this was really a fantastic post and video. Thank you! I have problems with thinking to far ahead and any time that I have meditated before have found that my mind strays to places that it probably shouldn’t. This video and post put things in perspective for me and I am going try this for two minutes every morning when I wake up, I really felt at ease and though I should clear the mind when I meditate I might use this 2 minute video to jump start for a while 🙂

    • Hi Manika,
Thanks so much. Yes its amazing how just two minutes can really help you ease through your day. It is a great thing to bring into your life. Thats great you are going to incorporate it into your life. Meditation is the answer to everything in my book 🙂

      Best wishes,

  9. Hi Kev,

Great article and instructions for a simple meditation.

I fell into my own form of meditation when I was at University. I found particularly around exam times that if I didn’t quiet my mind, I would not get to sleep at night as I would just have too much information bouncing around inside my head.

I found that a combination of focusing on my breathing and images (like a flame or waves) would on most occasions allow me to quiet my mind enough for me to fall asleep. I still use this technique whenever I need.

Thanks again for the great article.

    • Hi Brendan,

Thanks for the great comments buddy. Yes keeping it simple when you first start is pretty important. Thanks for pointing that out. If its too involved we tend to lose interest. Simple and short. Anyone can do this. Meditation is great for those doing exams and studying. Focus is so important.

Keep doing it as often as you can.

  10. Hi, I’ve tried on previous occasions to meditate for about half an hour daily but I haven’t been able to keep at it since it seems I always have a million things I need to do each morning and not enough time but committing to 2 minutes a day seems very doable. I think I’m going to try this method and see if I can get into a routine of doing it every day. I know I need it badly since I’m always so stressed I can hardly sleep at night.
Really enjoyed the video. Thank you.

    • Hi Chris,

Thanks for that. Yes 2 minutes a day is not hard and it really helps. let me know how you go 🙂

    • Hi Chris,

Thanks, yes meditation is so important in my life. Be a bit lost and stressed without it 🙂

  11. Hi Kev,

I always intend to meditate by make excuses – I don’t have time, I don’t know how, etc. I’ll have to give it a go now having read your post. Making time every day should be easy if it only takes two minutes. Heck, I’m not doing anything important right now (apart from writing this)!

    • Hi Joe,

Haha yes mate no excuse now! 2 minutes is easy. We always have 2 minutes in a day. You will find it will relax and calm you and once you get into it you will want to do it every day. Good luck with it,

  12. I listened to your video and closed my eyes, meditating even for 2 minutes can generate such a wonderful feeling. This is just the thing that I needed today, now I feel calmer and relaxed.
I think I will follow your suggestion and create a sacred spot in the house for meditation and commit to it every day, I think I can spare 2 minutes a day 😉

    • Hi Paulina,

Thanks so much for the comment. Yes a sacred space is really helpful when meditating. It brings a sense of peace even before you sit down. Let me know if you set one up. Glad it helped make you calmer and relaxed. Haha yes 2minute meditations are great 🙂

  13. Great article… As someone that love to meditate, I only hope that lots of people get to read this article and experiment with it. It’s the answer to chaos that goes on in the mind. Thanks for sharing.

    • Thanks Aisha!

It is indeed. A simple meditation like this can help so many people. 2 minutes of meditation is all it takes to change a life in many ways. Powerful portal to peace. Many thanks for your comment 🙂

    • Hi Eric,
